It was in 1990 that Symbiosis Institute of Journalism & Communication (SIJC) first opened its doors to about 40 students. Renamed in 1999 as Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication and eventually in 2008 as Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication (SIMC). Today SIMC is evolving into a world-class media and communication education institute, providing the industry with trained and competent professionals. Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune develops the skills and an inquiry-focused mindset to meet the requirements of the media and communications industry. Our strong academic programmes are driven by rigour, scholarship and a healthy integration of theory and practice that translate abstract ideas into tangible forms, made possible by the faculty, advisors and mentors who are drawn and supported by the industry and academia, innovative facilities and infrastructure and  internship opportunities with established agencies and companies. Passionate about teaching and innovation in pedagogy, Prof. Chatterjee has been a beloved teacher across premium B-school campuses. He is experienced in course design, curriculum development etc. Prof. Chatterjee has authored papers, book chapters and has also edited a text book on Marketing. He is also involved in designing the Ph.D program and processes in the Media and Communication Faculty, at Symbiosis International University, as Dean – Media, Communication and Design. He is a member of major SIU change initiatives viz. CGPA committee, Plagiarisation Policy Formulation and also the SIU Vision Committee
