Symbiosis Center for Management Studies , NoidaSymbiosis has been in the business of management education since 1978. Having successfully launched the flagship Symbiosis Institute of Management in the said year Symbiosis Internationally University (SIU) today has several top notch B Schools like SCMHRD, SIIB, SIMS etc. as its constituent units.
In 2010, Symbiosis International University set up an off centre campus in NOIDA to cater particularly to the students of North, Central and East India to pursue Management education.
Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, NOIDA, began its operations in Dec 2010. Based in the National Capital Region, it facilitates imparting of quality management education at the graduate level and aims to be one of the best Management education providers in the region, providing relevant, contemporary and practical experiences along with core conceptual inputs. Since commencing operations, it has made a name for itself in Graduate level education, offering a very contemporary, progressive program structure, leading to a real time professional degree, the Bachelor of Business Administration. The Institute focuses on the “R”s of Business Education: Relevance, Research, Reliability, and Revolution (Innovation) and has found wide acceptance in industry and academia for its commitment to professional education. At the Graduate level, the institute currently offers 3 year full time BBA degree programme.The same is divided into 6 semesters and offers the following specializations: Marketing, Human Resource, Financial Management, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality, Marketing Communications, and Economics.
Director, SCMS
Prof. Shrirang Altekar is a product of the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, one of the top 10 B-Schools in India. An alumnus of the 4th batch, passed out of SIBM in 1983, with Marketing as his area of specialization.
He has extensive technical and non-technical knowledge of business and has been involved in running businesses at the strategic level. He has an industry background where he worked for 23 years till his planned shift to academics. After joining SIBM as a faculty member, he was introduced to the Corporate Learning and Development function and established, under the guidance of the then Director, the Centre for Corporate Education, Consulting and Training (CCECT) His core interest is Shopper Marketing, and in the FMCG sector, he has worked closely with multiple corporates. He has also worked in a consulting, advisory, and training capacity with several other corporates in the Insurance, Manufacturing, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Aviation Sectors.
He has been instrumental in bringing to his students some of the best practices in industry, to enhance and supplement their academic inputs, and is highly acknowledged as a teacher and corporate trainer. He was also the Chairman of the Curriculum Evaluation Committee of the Symbiosis International University for 2 years.
Prof. Altekar also holds a degree in Law, and his topic of Doctoral Research is the Drivers of Shopper Behaviour with Specific Reference to the Buying Decision Process in Select Consumer Durables.
He has taken over as the Director of SCMS NOIDA, from April 25th, 2011, and his passion is to lead SCMS NOIDA towards being the best in class in North India, and achieving the goals of Relevance, Reliability, and Research and Revolution.
